Tips & Best Practices
Keep phases to 3-7
Keep phases to 3-7
Too few phases lack structure; too many create overhead. Aim for distinct, meaningful stages.
Make milestones specific
Make milestones specific
“Launch website” is better than “Finish project.” Specific milestones are easier to verify as complete.
Set realistic dates
Set realistic dates
Target dates keep plans accountable. Overdue milestones surface what needs attention.
Review regularly
Review regularly
Plans evolve. Review weekly to update priorities, adjust dates, and celebrate progress.
Start with phase one
Start with phase one
Don’t try to detail every phase upfront. Focus on the current phase; future phases can stay high-level.
Example: Product Launch Plan
A startup product launch: Setup:- Name: “App Launch Plan”
- Icon: 🚀 Rocket
- Theme: Professional purple
- Planning — Research, scope, timeline
- Development — Build core features
- Testing — QA, beta users
- Launch — Go-live activities
- Growth — Post-launch optimization
| Phase | Milestone | Target Date |
|---|---|---|
| Planning | Define MVP features | Jan 15 |
| Planning | Create wireframes | Jan 22 |
| Development | Backend API complete | Feb 15 |
| Development | Frontend UI complete | Mar 1 |
| Testing | Internal QA pass | Mar 10 |
| Testing | Beta user feedback | Mar 20 |
